Welcome to Predecessor Pro, the most curious blog on genealogy, family, research, and history. My intention is to show you what I like to do when it comes to genealogy and how I like to do it. I hope to show you that this kind of thing can be fun and interesting.
For those that don't already know me, my name is Trevor Stasik. I spend my days working as a Prospect Researcher for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. My nights and weekends I spend relaxing with friends and family, enjoying books and movies, and doing genealogy. I first became interested in genealogy about 2 years ago at my Grandmother's 80th birthday party.
At that party, my Uncle Mark gave Grandma a family tree that he created. There were people in there that I had never met, such as my Great-Grandma Grace Kerstetter. She was a wonderful woman who passed away at age 31, shortly after my Grandfather passed away. I never met Grace. I never knew much about her. However, the tree that my Uncle put together lit a fire under me to learn more.
Which brings me to this site. Genealogy can be intimidating. There can be a lot of information, much of it hard to find. Wouldn’t it just be more enjoyable to rock out to some music or play a video game? Maybe in the short term, but you can get a lot of long term pleasure learning about the stories of your family. When you begin to discovering the things that made you the unique person that you are, you can also find how your life fits into the genetic puzzle.
I hope you will follow me on this journey.
I should take a moment to mention that I have two other blogs. My LinkedIn blog at http://www.linkedin.com/in/trevorstasik/ serves as my base of operations for future posts about career related issues, business, finance, fundraising, and HR. I also have my legacy blog over at http://trevorstasik.blogspot.com/, but will limit my content there to discussions about the craft of writing, fictional writing, personal discussions, and any other topics that do not easily fall into the previous two blogs. My legacy business, finance, and HR posts will remain on the Blogspot site for the time being.
Additionally, I expect that there will be some cross over between the three blogs will be crossover. Topics that are appropriate for more than one blog, such my as my thoughts on productivity, may be posted in more than one location. There expect there will be some crossovers when it comes to notifications and announcements (such as this post today). However, there should be some original, exclusive content on all three eventually to give you a reason to visit all three, if you were to feel so inclined.
I do have some other message channels for those that can't get enough of this. I have my Twitter at https://twitter.com/tstasik. Feel free to visit me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TrevorStasik. I am not on Google+ as much as I used to be, but that profile is here at https://plus.google.com/+TrevorStasik/posts. I even have a Pinterest that I update once in a blue moon at http://pinterest.com/tstasik78/. While I may occasionally link to my posts from these other channels, they are intended to be mostly personal (with pictures of my dog). They will not be the primary source of distribution of any of my posts moving forward.
